1982 copper penny 3.1g possible DDO and DDR?

#1 Unread post by minimeg »

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I just registered for help on coins I have. My mom was the one to open my eyes to the coin world when I was about 13 y/o. I'm 21 now and said hey, why not?

I have a 1982 penny. No mint mark which I'm assuming means that it's an unmarked philly. I believe that it is copper because it weighs 3.1g right? I also believe mine is a large date even though I saw someone who listed their large date as a small date for 25,000? Exact positioning of the numbers.

The obverse seems to have thickness in all letters as for the reverse I saw it only in America? I'm so new to this theres so much to learn so excuse me if im wrong it's been quite confusing remembering it all.

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

Your 1982 is a large date and they were issued as copper 3.1 grams and copper plated zinc 2.5 grams so your coin is normal.

Here's a video I put together to help explain the Lincoln Cents from 1982.

Welcome to the forum.
Very well done understanding a lot of information relevant to 1982 Lincoln's. Those large dates can be real deceiving with the extra thickness looking like real doubling.
I think you will do very well for your self in the hobby. I look forward to some of your other finds.
