2017 P and D Shield cents

#1 Unread post by bigphish68 »

Just a general questions about the market on these coins. I have looked at PCGS and NGC certified examples and have seen crazy prices on these coins. Are these prices just because the population of these coins is still fairly low due to them being fairly new? Are there any opinions on these coins as far as the market settling down once more are available? I would like to obtain a set of these but would rather get an honest opinion. Is it worth jumping on the bandwagon and paying premium for them or wait out the storm for few months to allow market to stabilize? Also, is it worth the tremendous jump in price from MS66 to MS67? From what I have seen so far the price jump is staggering.

The population isn't low but people are collecting and hoarding them because this is the first and only year the mint placed a P mint mark on cents. So people think they should have a premium or will. I would wait since the population is over 4 billion. They are not rare at all.

MS67 is the money grade for most Lincoln Cents.

I agree Daniel. I'm thinking that this is just a gimmick to drive up price on graded coins. It only makes sense that they would be hoarded to drive up cost against actual value. As always- thank you for the honest advice and opinion.
