1975 D error Cent date is missing most of one

This 1975 D Lincoln cent looks like it's a little more than a weak strike the 1 is a small one and it is weak compared to the other numbers.

This was caused by a mint employee removing clash marks, they sometimes remove or weaken design elements of the coin.

Being altered, does that make it collectible?

NO ...

:eureka:
die polishing & "touch-up's" are part of the minting process as the die wears (fatigues) down, becomes clashed, so on ... over its useful striking lifespan

What's up with Abe's eye? I know there are no DDO listings at VV, CC, or DD but is that a second eyelid or contact mark?
Also is that normal thickness on the 97 and base of the E of WE or some class 6 action?

Just contact marks on Lincoln's eye. The 9 and 7 are a bit thicker then normal. And the E in WE not sure?

All of this is the result of a mint employee not doing their job properly but this is very common on these coins. You look at enough of them and you will see patterns where certain areas will be weak and missing.
