Hi everyone. I'm a new member. My name is Amber.. I am hoping to get some Info on a quite peculiar little coin i found whilst roll searching. I found a silver tented 1963 penny that also seems to have some errors frp. The mint. I've read that the color was most likely from 1960s science experiments in which pennies were cleaned with mercury. But look at the words and date and basically all if the front of the penny.. I'm by no means a seasoned coin collector by far so I kindly ask the community to give me some Insite on what I've stumbled upon. Thanks in advance!

Re: Error? Silver/double die 63 penny?
The coin has been plated in mercury, which is not healthy to mess with, but not at the mint. The US mint never conducted science experiments on coins but classrooms and people do and you can see many youtube videos on this.
Messing with the coin also alters the coin and would not be a mint error but a post mint damage coin. Thanks for posting and hope you continue the search!
