1988 P Dime

#1 Unread post by bryan.hook »

I got this the other day, and wanted to get the group's opinion. There is a nice starburst on the obverse, with what looks to be doubling around the head. Mainly at the eye, mouth, chin, and motto. On the reverse, there is something in the O of "OF" and something on the upper right side of the M in "AMERICA".

Welcome back and Nice images. I'm no pro but I'll try to help.
I believe this is from a heavily used die. No doubled die. The secondary neck line is from age also or possibly mechanical doubling which is common and not valuable.
All the heavy grooves and lines radiating towards the rim are die flow lines. As the die gets older these get more pronounced. The interior of the O looks to have a small die chip.

I agree, heavy die fatigue and a good example of this. I keep these.
