PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). 1985 Cent/ missing FG on reverse..
Hi Everyone,picked up this cent from store last nite . Looks like the FG on reverse, right lower corner of Blvd. has been removed from someheavy die touch ups. Alot of heavy scratches on coin. Think this is worth saving ?? Thanks for imput...

Hey there. Those missing initials are an eye catcher for sure.
But I'm thinking there are at least two things going on. A heavily polished and abraded older die causing very thin/weak devices. And it looks like there was some damage (ding or gouge) at exactly the spot where the initials should be, which is hiding any remnants of the initials. It would be interesting to hang onto it for the educational reasons. Cliff

Hi Cliff, Appericate reply. It is a tuffy with that ding right there with all the die work were done also. I thought it looked pretty interesting so I thought I would share!! Thanks Buddy...

A missing FG can't have an remnant of the FG remaining and this coin seems to have some left.
