Questions on a 1992-D Lincoln Cent

#1 Unread post by jesjon »

I'm in the process of going through a few rolls and I found this 1992-D Lincoln cent that has some strange doubling, on the reverse especially. I can't tell if it's a worn die or later die state or something else so I've included some photos. I am now able to take close up pics with my digital scope but if I enlarge the photo it automatically saves it as a bitmap file instead of a JPEG and the BMP files won't transfer here so I need to change the default file type but haven't figured out how to do that yet, so these pics will be low quality but hopefully clear enough to diagnose from. Thank you for any help offered

Maybe an unclean planchet or grease in the die? Makes sense to me thanks Daniel. I have another small mystery I need help with, I have what looks like a 1922 weak D or no D. There is a slight lump in the vicinity of where a D would be but this is one coin where I need the advice of experts so hopefully the pics present a clear enough view.

All this is plating disturbance and is commonly found on copper plated, zinc planchets.

:agree: D,
but to determine if this really is a "D" mintmark, a very high power close-up microscope like mine is needed,..... :dunno

I was referring to the 1992-D Cent, but the 22 has to be a D or Denver since that is the only mint that struck cents that year.

And this is what I was talking about with my message I sent out to everyone. I would rather a separate post per coin so it doesn't get confusing.
