1988 D penny FG initial questions

#1 Unread post by kincaid86 »

Im VERY new to all this coin stuff but am very eager to learn all that i can. I came across the only 1988 penny I've ever had, and am curious if the Initials on my coin have any errors. i have read about the possible errors, but am not sure if mine is special. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No, you want the flared G. The stem dips below where it's connected and then the top of the stem flares inward at a right angle.

If you don't yet have one, you should buy a 2025 spiral bound Red Book.

Also spend some time working through the vast assortment of great videos that Daniel has posted on You Tube that you can search and watch playlists on any subject, such as Lincoln cents for a discussion of what to look for in order to make your searching more efficient.

Here is an example list to look through: https://www.youtube.com/@CoinHELPu/sear ... ln%20Cents

#7 Unread post by kincaid86 »

Please tell me something cool about this quarter I have. The AM are clearly touching. I haven't looked anything up online yet about it because I wanted to hear your thoughts first.

I locked the topic b/c forum rules say only one coin per post. Besides that when you hide a coin down inside another thread, then there might be less people who see it as opposed to when someone hits "unread topics" at the top of the initial page.
