First want to thank Daniel and all of his CoinHELPu videos on YouTube - he's saved me a lot of money with not sending unnecessary coins off to be graded!!
Second, I'm wondering if the hole/puncture you see on my1909 Wheat penny is an error?
I'm guessing you are going to say no since I haven't seen anything like it in your videos, I just want to be 100% confident before dismissing it. Please see pictures attached and thank you for everything!!

1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, please do not take images of your microscope screen or TV screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Yes this was done with a tool. If it were struck through like that, there would be a bulge on the back.

Welcome to the forum. We are glad you are here
You can see the spot on the back that was flattened when someone punched the front with something hard (like a metal punch).
I know people new to this often want to make sure they do not miss out on something rare and collectable. I think this idea is so common nowadays b/c people are unknowingly trained by social media to think anything odd looking is a potential valuable error.
When people see a crack in a car's windshield, they don't automatically think the car came off of the assembly line that way.
Coins need to be approached in the same common sense way. In this case, those are just gouges where the coin was hit.
Until ebay shyster auctions and clickbait online videos were as ridiculously common as they are, most people didn't let excitement over possibly hitting a jackpot (not saying you specifically are) interfere with seeing coins the same was as they would the windshield mentioned above.
People have been sensitized by online shysters so that the idea of "Rare error coin," instead of "How was this coin damaged?" is very prevalent. Don't feel badly b/c you are not alone. We get a lot of people asking this kind of thing daily.
The reality is almost every odd looking coin is going to be PMD or something inconsequential to the coin hobby.
