1862 1C MS63. Is the rim ruining the grade

#1 Unread post by BenK »

I recently sent this in and when i got it back was disappointed because apart from the rim, it is in very good condition and comparable if not better than most ms65 ive checked. My question would be, would it be worth resubmitting again under say ngc, or is the rim effect the grade enough so that i wouldn't get a upgrade from the ms63. The rim appears to be solely a die break or something of that sort and isn't related to actual wear over time so could this grade higher or is this coin cursed simple from the terrible rim.

Did you spend a lot to have t graded? Probably, huh? I wouldn't chance it then. Just being in a PCGS holder, gives it more value historically speaking over the other grader's.
I would think that whatever is going on with the rim has had an effect on the grade. ;)
