3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. This piece was issued to commemorate the event that the organization that is implied in the title.
It was in 90% silver, 10% copper.
It sold very poorly, and is still unpopular.

I think silver coins catch everyones eye. This is a nice coin, but if I was looking for something that I would want to show others, the design does not thrill me much either.

I agree. This is all part of a larger project which is trying to catalog all of the commemoratives, which I'll continue tomorrow.zakota wrote:I think silver coins catch everyones eye. I forgot to include this thought. It is a good part of history. The USO did much for the troops in those days for their moral. It would be nice to have just for the history value of the support of the troops.

I don't think the picture does it must justice. I think the commemoratives are a different method of getting people interested and learning history. You actually own a part of the history they portray.

Yes I do agree with you. I have through my fathers collection the Booker T. Washington half and the BTW with carver. The carver looks AU. The Booker is turning blueish black around the edges. I like both of these coins. One question on the BTW and Carver half. It seems to have like sand pits in the face. Is this normal for the business strikes? The BTW is good circulated, but the combo half is pitted in the face? How could I post a photo of this coin to view. The pits do not show if I take a photo or a scan. Is there a trick to getting stuff like that to show?

It might help to change light angles and to purchase a camera with macro mode.

Thank you I will try different angles with light and camera.
