Does anyone know about this coin? Is it doubled?

#1 Unread post by Mike&DianeF&A »

Need some help. Im new to coin collecting and want to know if anyone knows about this coin. Looking it up i gather that it is a 1939 German 3rd Reich 2 Reichsmark D. I believe its a double die in a few spots. Can anyone give me more info on this and if its worth having graded? And how do i find out the value on something like this? Thanks Mike.

It is a 1939 German 2 mark coin. made of .625 silver with a mint mark of "D" which means it was minted in Munich. See link. Sure looks doubled but don't know what it would be worth or how rare the doubling makes it. See link. https://en.ucoin.net/coin/third_reich-2 ... 4&vid=5204

NGC grades them but don't think it would be worth it.

Google is a great tool found all this in a few minutes.

Pnwmakes thanks for that info and the links. I wouldnt consider grading except for the doubling on it. The doubling is the only reason im asking about this coin

Hmmm, this coin does show actual die doubling, interesting find!
Unfortunately foreign mint errors are less documented than U.S. mint errors, so they are less desirable and likely does not add significant value to the coin.
Very very significant doubling though, interesting.

It is a doubled die but as stated already premiums are not that high for world coins with doubled dies. So we can’t say it’s worth submitting. I recommend looking up sold auction results.
