Hi. I came across this coin in a collection I bought and it has intrigued me. It has a capital B and E on both the obverse and reverse. Does anyone know if these are chop marks? I can't seem to find out information about them.

Chop marks on coins are Chinese characters stamped or embossed onto coins by merchants in order to validate the weight, authenticity and silver content of the coin.

Someone used a set of letter punches on your coin. As you can see, a set is inexpensive and anyone can get them:
