The most common mistake when photographing a coin is not filling the photo with an image of the coin:

Get in close and fill up the screen with that coin.

Turn off the flash and hold it really steady.
Check your camera and see if it is focused before snapping the shot.
Then, we'll see something like this:

Remember, we need to see both sides of a coin to help you out!
Lastly, if you have photo editing software (there are lots out there for free, or use Paint... it comes with Windows), then load up that photo and crop the photo to just the coin. Then, put an arrow where you want us to look:
