No nose 1985 penny

#1 Unread post by Denise777 »

When I found this I was going to throw it out (put in money to cash in jar) due to the corrosion from air bubbles and Nick's but noticed the nose was kinda missing. Upon magnifying I noticed it was spackled down and you can see a hole from a air bubble. Most holes happen during circulation from bubbles being scraped of and moisture getting in contact with the zinc. It appears on this one a bubble popped during production and a worker inspecting spackled down the mess. I believe this could be worth something. Definitely one of a kind. Anyone know how I get this more noticed?

I agree, a contact mark removed and pushed the metal away from the area of the nose.

Welcome but that is definitely damage.
Pinhole in the copper plating and then the zinc core oxidized/deteriorated away leaving a void. A hit pushed the copper plating into the hole.
I found one last week that makes Lincoln look like a Zombi with a dark sunken eye and peeling lips! lol:
