1971 d penny error
I have a 1971 d penny with the letter I attached To the B in the word liberty if any one has any idea what error this is please help thanks

what looks like a "remnant" of the "ORIGINAL I" just to the left of what is there now.......in these pics
so, without a real clear pic here, i'm going with:
it was possibly 'pushed' over due to a "MECHANICAL ROLL CRIMPER" ... JMO

Then how is the I still on there would it have come off and is it considered damaged then just wondering

without seeing it first hand under 'my scope', i can only guess "USING THE IMAGES PROVIDED"
you will see/find a ton of LC's with this same 'damage' on the "date area"......JMO

I have a electric scope that take picture coming through the mail once it comes I will send better close up photos and thanks for the help

I agree this was caused by the metal of the letter I being pushed against the B, and the metal doesn't come off it is displaced.

A contact mark is all, post mint damage.
