1983 Penny mint mark error?

#1 Unread post by EdH » Sat Sep 30, 2017 6:23 pm

happydance: Hello I have a 1983 penny that is missing the mint mark. There is just a hole about the same size as the mint mark would be. The hole is relatively deep as well. Is this considered an error? I am going to try to include a photo but a clear close up is proving to be very difficult.

Zinc rot.
Zinc pennies, especially Denver mint are notorious for rotting around the mint mark.
