They only minted 30,125 of the proofs at the West Point Mint and included the gold bullion coins as a set for the 10 year anniversary of Silver Eagles. It's most rare in DCAM70 since only a few have made this grade.

Someone got a FIRST HAND LOOK at this one.
This coin must have been one of the first coins struck.
Now, look at the one I paid HUGE $ for.
No matter how itsy bitsy, tiny weenie, there is still a micro-touch/brush contact mark. Very difficult to see. At just the right angle, with just the right lighting.....
THEREFOR, IT IS NOT A 70
I made the mistake of buying this from DAVE LAWRENCE.....using a 'stock' photo in his ad. The ad & slab I received did not have matching serial #'s. Of course, it was a no return purchase!
NGC replied with: "IF YOU WOULD LIKE IT PROPERLY GRADED, YOU WILL NEED TO SEND IT IN FOR RE-GRADING".
At my cost of course.
THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF "PREFERENTIAL GRADING".....or "BLANKET GRADING", & is why you need to closely inspect EVERY 'graded' coin you buy.

I have studied these type of micro spots on Silver Eagles and it appears to be a slight die surface imperfection. I don't see how it can be a 70 either, but a 70 isn't a perfect coin as people claim. There's just no such thing as a perfect coin, but we have plenty of 70 graded coins.

I agree, no 'PERFECT' coin exists, but this is not a die error, definite itty scuff. Just a bad pic on my part....from the 'old' 3.1Mp scope. Should be a 69+. I wish I still had it, I made a multi-coin trade for it. I might have some 'other' pics of this spot on a old thumb drive. I would have sold mine for 1/4 of that!
