1992 Close AM Sold For $20,000+

It appears they must be graded by PCGS to gain such a premium. http://www.coinworld.com/articles/1992- ... 6-on-ebay/

That makes sense. People won't pay $20000 for a coin that is raw and risk finding out that it is not what they paid for. Personally I don't understand why a Close AM would bring in such high bids. Sure its rare but this isn't so striking and dramatic on a coin like maybe a 1955 DDO. I dont know...maybe some people just have too much money.

The 92' Close AM's are rare and only a few have been found. It's actually considered a mule since the reverse is struck from a proof die and married with a business strike die obverse.
