I deleted this post due to my error. So please post an image of the entire coin and date, in the future. People like me get things confused when trying to answer so many posts. Thanks, but mostly sorry for my error. :s

It looks like the hair was shaved from his chin. Is there more chin than usual?

I think this is an example of an optical illusion.

...you have me confused, Daniel. you said "It looks like a tiny spot of missing copper plating"

I was under the impression that pre 83 cents were of mostly solid copper blanks. yes? whistling2:

Crap, thanks fwd, I didn't pay any attention to the date. I am so used to commenting on post 81' cents that I just screwed that all up. Why didn't someone else correct me?!

...I didn't mean it to sound like a correction, Daniel, but rather as 'constructive criticism' widegrin

But I needed corrected my friend, can't be the pot calling the kettle black since I preach non-confusion and be careful the information you post is accurate. That was a bad foul and I am being hard on myself for a reason, I deserve it. widegrin

It looks like a normal coin to me but shows wear. You can see the beard pattern but just worn down to hardly anything. Maybe it was stuck in a dryer for a while. lol
