My name is Heidi, i'm 26 and live in Pa. I have recently been introduced to coin and currency collecting. One of my customers at the Legion I work at had me buy different books and take notes on different websites. I'm very new to this and have hundreds of questions. I don't know what else to say haha!
One question I have is What does RPM mean? I was just looking at Lincoln Cents and noticed it next to a date. It said 1989 RPM and this is one i have not come across yet. If someone could let me know that would be awesome! Thanks so much!!
Introducing myself :)

1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Re: Introducing myself :)
Welcome Heidi,
Prior to 1990 mint marks were added to the coins designs by hand using a punch. Apparently some mint workers had unsteady hands resulting in one or more mint marks in addition to the primary mint mark intended for the coin.
Below are a couple photos I have taken that show secondary mint marks fairly well.
The first set of photos is of a 1960D RPM#1 that shows a very distinct secondary mint mark to the west of the primary mint mark.
The second set of photos is of a 1925S RPM#1 that shows a secondary mint mark to the south of the primary mint mark.
Also a link to a page on this site that shows some RPMs (RePunched Mint Marks)

Here is another nice page for an error and variety collector.

This site has been put together by Daniel with an abundance of great information and obvious hard work. Well worth the stay and look around.
Hopefully I was able to answer one of those hundreds of questions and hopefully with some accuracy. One thing I have found helpful to me is keeping coin collecting enjoyable even if it is or seems like work.
