1984 lincoln cent ?

hi not sure if this is how or where to ask a question but here it is ,about a 1984 lincoln cent just about as wide as a nickel ,grayish in color but looking at it from the side the obverse looks nickel tone and the reverse looks copper and the middle is darker than the copper side it looks like it has 3 layers is this possible i tried to take pics but havent figured out how to get it clear enough to see any detail thanks for any info dave.

It sounds interesting, pictures would help us maybe make a good guess as to what is happening. I am guessing that is make be an acid thing going on with the nickle colored side of the coin.
