New to coin help.

#1 Unread post by smitty1250 »

I have collected coins, and stamps on and off for 15 to 20 years.
Recently i became intrested in error type stuff.
I was looking for a little help to get started, mainly to identify if i am
seeing the right thing.

Welcome to the forum and you ask a good question. In reality you should buy a couple books like Cherry Pickers Guide and Strike It Rich With Pocket Change, but you can also look at the images from our website here http://coinauctionshelp.com/page14.html

It can be confusing at first, but the most commonly found errors are Strike Doubling, Repunched Mint Marks, Die Cracks, and Laminations so those are good place to start.

Welcome to the forum!

Daniel is right about the Cherrypicker's Guides and Strike it Rich With Pocket Change books. I bought Strike it Rich... when I first started and it helped me a lot. You can always post pictures and ask for our opinion on this forum widegrin

Again welcome Smitty. You found a great forum and website for all of your coin needs. Never be afraid to ask a question or post a pic of a coin. These guys are great!

I do agree with the book recommendations. The Red book would be another choice as well. I am looking forward to more of your pics and coins.
