Hello all,
I started coin collecting about 10 years ago by filling U.S. coin books with the best examples found in my pocket change and collecting foreign coins from travel. In September 2019, I decided to take a deeper dive and started looking for error coins while going through pocket change that I collected over the years in two large plastic pretzel containers. This led to a bunch of research and watching informative videos on YouTube like the ones created by Daniel at CoinHELPu and other channels such as World Numismatic News, JBCOINSINC, Coin Opp, Couch Collectibles, BlueRidgeSilverhound, etc..
The obsession has grown! I've since bought all of the spare change from my neighbors and friends. From a friend I bought 173 lbs. of 1960-1999 lincoln pennies that were sealed in a large glass water cooler bottle for 20-60 years. My wife thinks I'm nuts! It's either this or a convertible Corvette. LOL!!!
I've crammed a bunch of information on coins in the past two months, especially looking for errors, and have been wrapping my head around the grading process. Not the submission process for grading, but just getting a ballpark on how to grade. Been studying a ton of coin images on PCGS and Heritage sites. I bought a bunch of storage supplies such as 2x2s and tubes to properly store what I have. We'll see where this all goes. I'm keeping it fun. I have too many other hobbies as it is. I'm a painter/artist, study art history, collect art, play guitar, etc... so this is another avenue of fun and learning!
Thanks for having me aboard!
