1965 Washington Quarter on thin planchet

#1 Unread post by dcunningham »

I have a 1965 Washington quarter on thin planchet. It weighs 4.26g. Local coin collector says it is the real deal. It hasn't been acid washed and it is circulated. I have been getting different stories from several people as to its worth. Wondering if anyone has input on this.

Some have been struck on dime stock but your coin has been played with, that is obvious. So would need looked at in hand.

:welcome:
Your coin is too heavy to be struck from dime stock.
Daniel may be correct here, but I can't tell from your pictures, they're too fuzzy.
Possibly struck from thinner stock??

Do you have any edge images holding it up to a standard quarter?

That's what the consensus seems to be... I'm getting many different appraisals of it. Rare find I'm told. Worth sending in to be certified?

Wouldn't be worth sending off in this condition, would cost more than the coin is worth.
