Hi, everyone my name is Brian. Just recently started hunting coins for errors. I've been a minor collector for years. Saving wheaties, silver, and older coins when I find them.
I recently found a couple of coins I need help figuring out if they are defects or not.
I have a '76 50c along the rim above the "Y" looks like it is stamped out. and rim is rough leading from the T on down. I compared it to other 50c pieces which look normal.
The other one is a 1c and there is a light ridge from liberty through "In God We Trust" around towards the date. .
It looks like it happened before the coin was struck as the lettering is clear
Any thoughts, opinions, and help in learning is greatly appreciated.

Re: Hi, Newbie here found some potential defect coins
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting your coin questions and coins!
Your Kennedy Half is a small cud or rim die break, it is minor but interesting.
Your Lincoln Cent ridge is caused by die fatigue and is extremely common on cents.

Thanks for the info. I found another penny with 3 ridge lines next to Liberty last night. I look forward to learning more.
