It's a circulated coin that was struck through greased filled die. It is common to find them in this condition when you roll search.

Welcome to the forum.
Are you familiar with grease filled dies and how it can affect details on a coin?

It's ok to ask questions, we encourage it and are happy to help.
Sometimes we give concise answers that may not make sense to a newer collector. So Please feel free to ask but remember it may take us awhile to respond, especially this time of year. Anytime you don't quite understand a term, try a Google search to get more precise and detailed information.

Yes your's is a plain nickel that was struck by dies that had devices and areas obscured by "mint" grease. Machinery requires grease to operate properly and sometimes this will fall onto the surface of a die and interfere with the normal production and details on a coins surface.

Extreme examples may command a premium but your coin would be nice to hang on to as a reference if nothing else. The fact that you found it makes it collectible to you, if no one else.

Thanks for posting and sharing your images. We look forward to more.
