Hello,
I was coin roll hunting and found a 1965 Lincoln Memorial Cent with a lot of doubling on the reverse. I'm looking to sell this online but I can not find any other examples to compare it with. So I do not have a value for this coin. I was wondering if you have any information about this coin and what it could possibly be worth. Thank you so much for any info and help you can provide. I have included a few photos to show you the doubling. Thank you again for your time. Keep up the great work!
Joshua

Re: 1965 Lincoln Cent DDR
You won't find an example of this coin because it is machine doubling and is caused by the die pushing metal away from the lettering. A doubled die is a coin struck with a die that is created with a doubled design and there will not be any flatness to the secondary.

Hi Daniel, Thank you so much for the info!! That helps me a lot. This Doubled Die and Machine Doubling is confusing sometimes. Thanks again.

Re: 1965 Lincoln Cent DDR
Welcome.
Doubled dies (the doubling originates on the die itself) vs. MD can be difficult to differentiate.
With practice noticing the differences becomes easier. MD on clad or nickel coins are even more difficult to detect, I believe because of the density/hardness of the metal.

Re: 1965 Lincoln Cent DDR
True doubling is typically only in one direction.
Look at the A and the C in America and you will see the push is in opposite directions. Next, the doubling is flat, instead of shaped like the original legends. You can also see it is mushy in design compared to the original. Lastly, points on characters are missing notches.
As Paul would say, mushy is one of those technical terms you have to see a few times to understand.
