Newbie - HI need some help

#1 Unread post by The Bob » Tue Sep 12, 2017 8:23 pm

Hey - I am glad this is here. I am just getting into coin collecting and have had some awesome luck coin roll hunting - Is it worth my time to hunt through the 3000 dimes and nickels I have for errors? I looked online but couldn't find much information or errors in circulation for either. It would be nice if someone would be kind enough to let me know. I appreciate

Unfortunately, that is the only way you are going to find errors.

You looked online for what? Different types of errors occur for almost every year out there. Most are very minor. You would likely have to find a suspect coin and then see if the coin error is known. You can also post a picture of any coin you suspect (front and back) here and we can tell you what you have.

PS. Welcome

I would buy the Cherry Picker's Guide book and look for those varieties because ultimately the varieties is where the money is and unless they're well known then they don't have much of a premium.
