I been only doing the coin collecting for two months and still have lots to learn.
One thing I am curious about is this 1985 D Roosevelt Dimes. Is this a broad strike or partial collar strike?
Anyone can answer my question and thank you? :patriot:

Re: 1985 D Dime Broadstrike or Partial Collar Strike
This is damage because a broadstrike would effect both sides and a partial collar strike would look like railroad tracks on the edge because the reeding would have struck into it.

I would like to see a broad strike and partial images from an angle that I can tell the difference.
That would be something I need to research.
Thank you for both response.

Re: 1985 D Dime Broadstrike or Partial Collar Strike
A broad strike will be evident for the entire coin because it was struck outside the retaining collar that retains the coin's diameter during the strike, without the retaining collar the planchet would spread out as a broad strike.
