1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.

2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.

3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.

4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.

5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.

6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.

Suppose to have a branch in the center where tree forks

Can anyone see it cause I can't find it on this one. And if it is the mint error one what's the value

It's worth a few cents because of the copper but is there another reason you think this coin should have value?

The caption under the second image says "Suppose to have a branch in the center where tree forks". I don't know about the Canadian cents. Anyone else?

......when searching, finding, comparing, & analyzing (attributing), a coin....
there are a great number of factors to take into account....

i would recommend that everyone (even for the intermediate collectorsA),....to find & 'bookmark' places on the net, that are "reliable" resources, with good quality images & descriptions, that you can see/compare/study your coin against.

:eureka:
keep in mind that....your only as good as the information you learn.....
one of the biggest mistakes i see today, are individuals using the information from other internet sellers with 'similar looking' coins,....
:s & that information is incorrect! :s
.......& that 'looks like my coin', & they say "XYZ",...so that must be what i have.

so after researching, & your still stuck,....or you just want 'confirmation' of your info, we are here for you. (please don't ask us to do all the work for you)
....& for those reading this...when you 'post images', please use an 'arrow', or a 'circle', on the picture pointing out 'what' your asking about...."THANKS".

I would rather do all the "work" for them since they will not get confused by inaccurate information from this forum, but I do agree we need arrows and explanation on what you need to know about your coin.

"YO-KAY"
i just had the thinking that "learning" was a sort of 'trial-n-error' process (for this area), &/or a
'self taught' research ideology,....

It is a self process for us P. We know that well, but people come here because they're confused or can't find the info they need elsewhere.

If folks go to other places to find info they may or may not be on the right track. The quick buck artists rule the net, we must try to deliver honest and clear information. Don't send people away, they are better off with good info., even if it is not what they want to hear.

Exactly. I get a lot of emails as well and people often don't like what they hear. I am amazed at how little some dealers actually know about coins.

:eureka:
people need to keep in mind that a "dealer" (& NO NEGATIVE INFERENCE MADE/INTENDED HERE), is just a 'businessman'....running a "business", to make a profit. that's all. numismatics has a large overhead.....& don't forget all the little things, the 'store-front' rent, lights, heat, employee costs, insurance,.....so on.
with any business, you want to maximize you profit margin...buy low, sell high. simple....but it is important to 'know what you have'. i recall visiting several dealers years & years ago. i knew what i had, but acted like i knew nothing.....only ONE was completely, truly honest with me. most used lots of numismatic lingo, that DID NOT apply, & offered very low values (which you expect, he needs to 're-sell' it).
so, i would recommend, if your not dead sure, get a second, or third, opinion...

& i think were missing the "original question" here...?
"VALUE"....
value Vs. actual sales price. there are a LARGE number of factors here. "collect-ability", current "selling market-place", "available" investment income, "presentation/description/honesty", just to mention a VERY FEW.
have i purchased a lower grade coin for a greater than normal price? YEP.... i needed it for a missing variety in "run" for that 'type coin'.....as "sets" command a larger value (the time & cost spent finding/putting them together) in the 'collecting world'.

so value, 'internet value', will be more difficult to accurately determine.....crummy/altered images, authenticity, "puffing"A, shill bidding, return policy,....are all going to effect 'sale price'. first hand inspection, is ALWAYS THE BEST.
