1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.

2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.

3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.

4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.

5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.

6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.

I'm new, with lots of questions

#1 Unread post by Obsessed »

Hello,

A little background: My father passed December 2013. My Mother wanted me to go through his coin collection because she needed money for burial, medical bills, etc. My Daddy had already planned to cash in some, so I didn't feel bad about cashing in some silver. That's all for background.

I have researched and bookmarked so many coin sites, bought magnifiers, scales, supplies. It is such a big job. I spend quite a bit of time looking and researching coins. So, I really need some help from you experts! I'm going to be here a lot and have a lot of questions. I'll do one at a time.

1st One:

Looking at Wexler's Coins, transitional designs, Washington Quarter, type A,B,C - how can I have a 1957 Type B that is not a proof? Do proofs get circulated?

I'll try to take a picture that's helpful, but I don't have sophisticated equipment.

Thanks for any help and I'll be back! :patriot:

The reverse was struck by a left over proof die with the type B eagle but was struck as a business strike.

Thanks for your answer.

Is this a common or "not unusual" thing to happen?

It adds some value depending on the grade.
