Re: Colonia Georgia Aug
Basically, the phrase means: "Not for self, but for others."
It is actually written as "Non Sibi Sed Aliis" {latin: look at the coin again}
The image on the side with people is from the Georgia Historical Society seal which was designed in 1839.
The image on the side with the leaf is the Georgia Trustee seal of 1733. It's a Mulberry leaf, a silk worm and a cocoon.
King George II established a Board of Trustees in 1732 to establish the colony of Georgia, which governed the colony for the first 20 years of it's existence. In 2009, the Georgia Historical Society re-established the Georgia Trustees as "contributors" to the State of Georgia's future.
A bronze replica of the 1733 seal of the Trustees is presented to recipients of the Georgia Trustees honor, which is awarded annually by the Georgia Historical Society and the Office of the Governor. I believe you have one of these.
It is not actually a "coin". Instead, I would call this one a medallion.
As for value: unknown. Kind of depends on who it was awarded to, their contributions, can it be traced to original owner, do you have the original box and most importantly... is there a "demand" for this medallion by collectors. Think of it this way: What would you give for Amartya Sen's Nobel Peace Prize medal? How about Mother Teresa's?
PS. WELCOME!

Re: Colonia Georgia Aug
Can anyone tell me what the AUG stands for on the Colonia Georgia Board of Trustees seal or Georgia Historical Society medallion?

Re: Colonia Georgia Aug
On the reverse of this medal:
Latin phrase Colonia Georgia Aug, meaning "May the colony of Georgia prosper."
The figures to the left and right of the scene represent the Savannah and Altamaha rivers.
The middle figure represents the genius of the colony; wearing a cap of liberty and holding a spear, she sits beside a cornucopia.
