Here's another interesting one, on this one i need your help to describe it
On this 1986 coin, ive notice that the "IN God WE TRUST" the first three letters there is some doubling but cant really tell what type.
On the word "LIBERTY" its missing part of the letter making it spell IIBERTY and on that same side the rim part has an extra line along side the rim from lIBERTY up to the "IN God WE TRUST".
Can you see what im looking at?
1986 Lincoln cent

Re: 1986 Lincoln cent
I don't see any doubled or doubling, but the images are not large enough to see. I have seen this inside rim line before and it's usually something to do with the plating being pushed or it could be something with the plachet when it was created. I have see a few of these and they have a low interest to collectors.

Yes, the letter L became distorted, and is missing the lower part, by what happened. I have seen this before and it's common to see the L with a problem or missing something like this.

Re: 1986 Lincoln cent
I have a series of this error from the same roll...They seem to progress as the coins appear...I saved them just cause I found them interesting

Re: 1986 Lincoln cent
Interesting that you found a progression of this occurrence, that suggest it had something to do with the die and something that got worse as the die continued striking the coin. I need to look further into this if that's the case. However, I have found examples of this and know that it's not rare or something desirable and why there's not more literature on this.
