2011 D Quarter Olympic DD or MD rev

#1 Unread post by pahwa »

This is probably MD but since there are 3 layers it seems, i just has to ask the experts as to their opinion. Is this and MD, DD or combination? There is also what looks like a clash on the obverse as well. Thanks for the help.

I don't see this as a doubled die, but it's possible. I see a lof of metal sliding, but their are some splits. Lighting might some of my problem.

I thought this was interesting no matter what it is. Boy this coin collecting is hard. Trying to figure out what is something and what isn't is dang hard to do. I am getting better though. It almost looks like the die bounced and slid at the same time. Another one of those "I don't know why" keepers. lol Heck when i am gone the kids can use it for their inheritance. (poor kids) :l

Tip: If you take away the doubling, you should have a normal size letter (device) when it is a doubled die. If not, then it would be MD.Since I'm not all that familiar with these quarters, I'm not going to try to make a call. If I had in hand I would compare two of them side by side.
