1955 die crack both side and some doubling
This is an interesting coin with the crack or lamination damage found on both sides of the coin. I take it both the obverse and reverse dies were damaged or is this caused by a planchet flaw. One of my neater finds in the last couple of days.

Looks like laminations and strike doubling to me. Sometimes the lamination is peeled off making the coin look flawed.

Yea, what I find interesting is the that the lamination marks are parallel to each other. What are the odds of have a lam problem on the same place obv and rev of each other? I figured it was a lam problem but but in this case I would think that there maybe some sort of a mechanical reason for it. But that is just my theory. widegrin
Thanks for the help on all of the coins.

I think it's a coincidence myself. I hope you eventually find a big one!

Not to sound negative but that is huge one coincidence. I should have bought a lotto ticket, dang-it. :l Thanks for the info.

Well,a planchet that is defective is actually more prone to laminate in other places that one that is not. Believe me coincidences happen a lot on coins and are probably the hardest thing to explain to beginers when they have a hit on the ear or mint mark and think it is a doubled die or RPM....it's always "the chances of that are almost zero"....and not talking about you, I realize you're taking in in good humor. But you wouldn't have gotten that lotto ticket for a penny :)

:l Not for a penny, but then again, I probably wouldn't have won anything anyway. I would rather spend the $ on a couple more rolls of pennies, one never knows what one may find. One thing I have learned is that with coins nothing is set in stone. Every coin can be something new or different especially when it comes to damage (I am getting fairly good at finding those things.) It is always fun to find someone neat though. I definitely want to thank you guys for your patience and help. I am sure that sometimes us newbies can be somewhat trying. I know I haven't hit the million coins searched yet, but I am getting there, two more boxes are waiting at my feet as I type. hugeeyes It does make me wonder how many millions of coins you guys have searched over the years. Thanks again you guys.
