1968 DD date and Mint Mark? Doubling?
Just finished the latest gripe of coins and decided to post a couple more pics. I found lots of stuff but nothing of any real significance i don't think. Some of these DD's in the books and websites are so minute that it is hard to tell if it is one or not. I'll post a few more as time progresses. Now it is sorting the next 1000 wheaties.

Thanks Daniel, I figured most or all of everything I have found is doubling. The problem of finding some of the DD's is the condition of the coins. Being circulated a lot of detail is missing or obliterated. Bummer eh!

Believe it or not I haven't found a doubled die, all my life I have handled coins, but no DD's. I have owned them and sold some, but never searched and found one.pahwa wrote:Thanks Daniel, I figured most or all of everything I have found is doubling. I find that hard to believe, but that just means that you need to start searching. Don't you search collections before you sell them on ebay for varieties?Daniel wrote:Believe it or not I haven't found a doubled die, all my life I have handled coins, but no DD's. Always, but most collections have the coins marked and have been searched, and I don't get the chance to get rolls at the bank. I did search through $750 of Lincoln Memorials late 80's through 90's, all bank wrapped in plastic, but not one DD.Nolifeking wrote:I find that hard to believe, but that just means that you need to start searching. I do have to digress on my statement. I found a 1936 Buffalo, thought the Liberty was "smashed" from a counting machine, but it turned out to be distended doubling. I didn't look at it close enough, but when the bidding went high, I asked the buyer and they told me what it was. So I can't really count this one since I missed it. :swear

Re: 1968 DD date and Mint Mark? Doubling?
It would be nice to find those DD's that are off set by have the letter or something like that. The ones I have a hard time with are the DD's that are just a line or a notch. I find a few of these but they just don't look like they are anything to me. Even looking at the markers the errors are so small that to me they don't mean much. Many of the markers are gone of the coin has been circulated much. However those are the ones I am looking for.... Talk about being confused all the time. lol At least the machine doubling is very easy to spot. hugeeyes
