2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Mint Error Lincoln Penny?
This is my first post.
I was going through some coins... and found this 1990 Lincoln Penny. It has the memorial stamped over the front of the penny. I tried to do some research and came across that it may be a type of Brockage. Also the monument on the back of the Lincoln Penny is perpendicular to the monument that is overlapping Lincolns face.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Jon

Again, thanks for joining and posting your coin. However, I can't see the front of the coin very well, but it looks like a person scraped something accross the coins surface. So this wouldn't be a mint error but "post mint damage" (PMD).

I kind of lean towards a major die clash. I turned the photo an it appears that there is an impression of the rev over Lincoln. A better photo would help. :w

Intersting Clyde, didn't see it like that, but it would need to be a rotated die clash to be in this direction. I also don't see any clashing on the reverse, but better images should solve the mystery.

I think it a vise job, it would be very unusual for a clash to reach that deep into Lincoln's bust. Clashes generally are in the fields as that is the highest point on a die. Remember, Lincoln's bust is incuse on the die.

Here's a dramatic die clash that I discoved in a BU roll. This is about as good as it gets for modern Lincoln Cents.

PCGS graded it MS66 and I was 100% positive it would attain MS67 at the least. The coin didn't appear to have any contact marks besides the clash marks, but I was happy to find it in a roll I owned.Maineman750 wrote:Yup Daniel, I think that's about as dramatic as I've ever seen. Nice !
