These are some of the coins that have been put in the key date bucket from sorting and now I have spent the time to go through some of them. I hope you can see some of the things on the pics. Not very good quality sorry about that.
The first coin is a 1970 s double die (?) on the word United, 1980 d die crack on the reverse from the 9:00 position through the edge of the memorial, 1982 p reverse die crack from the "d" in United down to the top of the memorial. Am I all washed up with these things or are they really what I think and hope they are.

I guess one is limited to how many pics that can be added to a post. The last coin is on the next post.

Thanks Daniel. I know the pictures are very poor. It is interesting, I can see why you didn't see anything on the 70 s cause of the quality of pic. But in hand there is a definite offset in the letters on United. I'll try to figure out how to take a better pic. The cracks or lines on the 80 p and the 82 d is what I was looking at. I didn't notice the DDO on the 80. Again I'll work on better pics. These were scanned and not good quality. The 42 it way cool though, at least for me. :-)

About the only thing I can truly identify is the lamination on the 42. Other would need better pics. Thanks for sharing though.

Thanks for all your comments. I am back in town now after moving my daughter back to college so I'll try to come up with some better pics.

A few better pics of a couple of the coins. The DDR of the 1970 S, cracks in the reverse of the 1980 D and 1982.

The 80 & 82 look to be die scratches or gouges. I still can't make a call on the DDR though. Best not to take pics on an angle unless necessary to show the anomaly.

Hey Roger thanks for the help.

Are die scratches or gouges collectible at all? I am going to keep them as they are kind of cool to me, but just curious.

Enlarge the 70 S look at the "N". That is why the photo is at an angle. There is offset in all the letters in United but the N is very obvious in this pic. The problem with straight on shots at least the problem I am having is the reflections wash out the errors. I guess pics are about worthless, well not worthless, but having the coin in hand is the only way to really know. Too bad 3000 miles separates a lot of us. lol

I can see something on the n on the 1970s but it looks like strike doubling to me.

Now that I've enlarged the 70-s (senior moment)...it is machine doubling. As for gouges and scratches, there is no huge premium. But the good thing about collecting is that you choose what to collect, not what somebody decides you should collect. I save lots of stuff, including nice examples of machine doubling.
