1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Re: 1964D 1c RPM
Thanks.
I think it's safe to say that my microscope has paid off. Taking pics of RPM's is a breeze with this thing now.

I just use that in combination with my 8mp digital camera. I also use a small desk lamp to shoot light in from the side in order to have lots of light on the coin. Works great so far. It can get a little temperamental with certain coins as it likes to get a glare, but for the most part it works well. I used it on the overdate nickel post as well and hopefully on lots more error coins to come widegrin

Re: 1964D 1c RPM
It takes longer but I no longer look at coins without my microscope. I was amazed at some small and minor things I had missed in rolls I had already searched.

This link is to a site where there is a great scope. I borrowed one from one of the students here and fell in love with it. I have ordered one and the price is really right. With the USB going right to the computer it is fast and efficient. Hope this is useful.

Re: 1964D 1c RPM
I've used similar scopes in the past and still have one, but didn't like the picture quality. This style scope is nice since it is connected right to the computer, but it is only 2mp. Using a microscope you can use any camera with it. Someday when I'm not feeling so broke I'm going to get a higher mp camera. Probably 14mp which should help the image quality even further. If I get bored tonight I'll do some picture quality experiments between my microscope and my 8mp camera, microscope and my brothers 12mp camera, and my camera scope that attaches directly to the computer. To the victor goes the spoils.clyde wrote:This link is to a site where there is a great scope. I borrowed one from one of the students here and fell in love with it.
