Hello Everyone,
I was going through my old proof sets and found this Lincoln cent which looked like a double die with naked eye. But, upon closer look, I see that doubling lines with different color as if the metal plating is missing. Or is this common for proof coins between 1999 and 2007? I am looking into other years as well and found similar ones in 2000 and 2002 proof sets as well. This doesn't look like a WAM.
Appreciate your help!

Proof coins for this year are supposed to be WAM's and that is what you're seeing. Also it is split plating and not a a doubled die, no extra value for that.

Yeah ok no extra value, but how 'bout extra credit for finding at least something ☺. By the way P, just kidding around, but seriously cents seem to be a world of "errors" and abnormal stuff that are not worth anything, which is why Daniel has always said look for the known varieties, it's far more productive.

@Daniel and coin mule, Appreciate for sharing the knowledge. I am still learning and taking baby steps to know about these errors. So, you will see a lot coming from me. I will first search in google to see if there is any information or any images that matches mine and then post it here.

A great place to spend some time researching is error-ref.com. It will show you what actual errors are and help so you can recognize them.

The best way to know if you have a variety or error worth anything, you should check PCGS's coin value pages. This will show you the varieties, plus you can click on the coin numbers which will show you a photo of that variety or error.Coin Mule wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 9:11 pm Yeah ok no extra value, but how 'bout extra credit for finding at least something ☺.
