Strike error? Which kind? Weak / low pressure?

#1 Unread post by bmp804 »

Good evening! Just pulled this out of bag of pennies from the bank. Seems to be a striking error but struggling to name it (weak strike, greaser, other?) It looks to be a 1991 D. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have an accurate measurement of the diameter on this coin?

@Paul - I don't have a caliper, but it normal size. Rim is fully intact. Was assuming struck through grease at first but I usually only see that on one side and not in this large of area. Then looking at websites on errors thought broadstrike but it is normal size with full rim intact.

Think I may have found it - struck through grease, grease mediated radial smear.

Could be a filled die strike but you usually see that on one side only. It's not a die adjustment strike nor weak strike.
