Strike through die crack orrr...

Found this quarter the other day. At first I thought it was all scratched up but then I got it under the microscope and thought maybe it was either a strike through or die crack. What is your opinion? It’s all over the front (very obvious) I also noticed a little ding on the rim by in god we trust might be a micro clip? On the back side I also noticed something going through the front of the boat. Let me know what you think!! :)

The pics make be think everything you are seeing is just damage fro circulation. If you spend some time at error-ref.com and have fun looking through all the actual errors that are collectible there, you will find pictures, etc. and learn how to ID damage vs. something the mint actually made. It will save you a lot of time and "dead ends" in the long run. :)

Looks like a bunch of scratches to me, die cracks are not this straight and neither are die breaks.

That is the problem we have with not being able to e-send our coins back and forth to see them in hand...don't we wish? :)

As Daniel has said, die cracks are not straight - they are cracks.

If this is something on the surface, the only other thing I can think of is it looks like maybe someone had a pice of tape on the coin, removed it, and some of the stickum from the tape left a line and a blob. A dip in acetone would get rid of it if this is so.

In any event, there is nothing in the minting process that would make something like this. So it has to be PMD.
