Super newb Here again, with another one, 61 PENNY DD??? (Can’t find example tho...🤔)
Ok, I know that I am REALLY taking a huge risk here of not only being wrong in my observation and suspected findings because this is an example that I think is a DD, but I can’t find any examples for this year of ANY DD varieties and I have totally gotten the hint about “if it’s not in one of these books and cataloged, it’s probably not a DD.”. Yeah, I totally get that and respect it and it’s actually caused me to mentally slap myself into being convinced that I am wrong about many a coins error or lack there of. Lol BUT, I just have been looking at this one for hours (on and off of course. lol) and I just don’t see how it could be anything but a DD. Based upon my understanding of it all, which admittedly is still very basic and lacking experience.
BUT ANYWHO, I know, “Jason, get on with it already!” Lol
What I have presented in the pictures attached is a 1961 Lincoln penny that unfortunately isn’t in the best of shape, BUT, there is something seriously going on with Lincoln’s mouth/lips, chin, nose and some on the forehead and bust. It is def got a doubling type of thing going on and I don’t believe it is a “flat shelf” type of effect or anything like that. It truly looks to me like the image of those features on his face is there TWICE! Which would be crazy, seeing as it’s not a cataloged DD error, as far as I can find anyways. And I do have a copy of “The Official Red Book: A Guide Book Of United States Coins 2021”, just so you all know that I am not fully ill-advised and that I truly am trying my best to learn this stuff.
So, yeah, I really don’t see any doubling of any kind, even mechanical, in any of the rest of the coin! Which is strange to me. However, A lot of the letters DO have a very strange shape/ build to them. I dunno, they just don’t look right to me. I know some of it is circulation damage, but definitely not all of it.
Alright, that’s my piece. PLEASE take a look at my pictures, which oh yeah, again, I only have my phone to take these photos and it is obviously very limited in its abilities to get super close up and defined, clear photos. But I do my very best and I take around 100 photos, just to come up with the few I actually post. Lol I can’t wait to be able to afford a microscope! Omg that will make my life Sooo much easier! Lol but right now, it’s just not in the cards. My little ones come first and things have been very rough with this dang pandemic and all. but ANYWHOOOO, yes PLEASE take a look and lemme know what you all think?
Thanks in advance, as always, for any and all opinions, assistance and information you can provide, for your time and I pray that this post finds everyone snd their loved ones safe and well during these crazy times that we are all having to endure.
“Shiney Time” over and out!

Look at Lincoln’s lips, my friend. And I post all those pics because like I said, I’m using my phone and the pics suck and I just can’t tell which are best for other people to see. Because I know what I’m looking for and at, so it’s easy for me to see but I try to think as if I’m someone else that doesn’t already know. If that makes sense? Plus, I remember Daniel saying in a vid always to include pics of the whole coin, in addition to the zoomed photos. Anyways. I guess I’m just a firm Believer in “better to have too much than not enough!” Lol

It's all die deterioration and circulation damage.

Say what? Circulation damage can’t cause him to have TWO lips and a larger chin and a longer larger nose and forehead that’s sticks out further, my friend.
Either my pictures really do suck or you just haven’t taken a moment to REALLY look at them and zoom in on his lips. There is a whole other silhouette of the whole front of his lips and mouth and right under his nose area.

Ok, so yeah, in looking at my pics again, they def are poor quality. BUT in person the second face outline is very easy to see and what I’ve done is circle the exact areas on one photo and then sending the same zoomed in photo without the circles so u can see what I’m pointing out without the circles k. The way. I hope this helps. We crap! I can’t send photos on comments. Ok, I’m going to swap out a couple of the post photos.

May I ask what type of imaging device you are using?

I am not going to debate you on this coin. I stated it has circulation damage AND die deterioration. Your doubled image is from die deterioration. Damage can cause a lot of anomalies on coins.Time2shine5299 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 11:07 am Say what? My apologies Mr. Daniel. 🙏🏻😬😕
Please accept my sincerest apology, sir. I just reread my reply snd it most def looks to have come across as WAYYY different than what my tone and intention was. I didn’t at all mean to seem argumentative or anything of the sort. I really was just attempting to understand exactly what I ended up understanding. I didn’t know that die deterioration could cause actual doubling of the image like that. His lips and nose area aren’t missing material, like I thought was always the case with the DD and MD, but it’s actually caused him to have 2 sets of lips. So, that’s where I was confused. I truly do appreciate you guys taking the time to check it out and give me your expert opinion. It really does mean a lot to me and I am more appreciative than you could truly understand. I know you are all busy men and are experts in this field w/ successful businesses to boot! So, I just wanted u to know I am not just some doofus being lazy, just temporarily dipping my toes and wasting your time while doing it or anything like that.
And to answer whomever it was that asked about my photo capabilities (or lack there of), it is just the magnify app on my iPhone and I realize how bad it sucks and I now realize that I have inadvertently wasted some of you all’s valuable time, by not having the proper, adequate equipment and deciding to jump in here anyways. So I have decided not to post anything further until I can afford and have purchased one of these digital microscopes that look to be so cool and also sooo helpful and will save a lot of time and headache. It’s just like any task, without the proper tools, you’re just asking for unnecessary stress and wasted time. I now realize that and I will catch up with you folks when I can get one of those perty little assistants! Until then, I pray that everyone stays safe and remains extra cautious and vigilant during these crazy whacked out times we are having to endure! Thanks again and God bless!
