I am wanting to know if it is possible to identify a proof coin from business strike by looking at the edge of questionable coin? Thank you!

I have a 1971 Proof Eisenhower dollar that looks to have a business strike edge. Here is a picture. I would like to know which of these coins are proof or business strike by looking at the edges? The reason I ask is to know if it is normal for proof coins to have a different edge than business strike? Thanks!

It is possible different collar dies were used to strike proofs and business strike coins. IF there was a difference it would not make a coin a proof. A proof is a die finish and not determined by the edge reeding. However, it might warrant checking into since there might be reeding variations. The 1921 Morgan Dollars are known for that.

Thank you Daniel! I will do some more research. Also, the two coins on the left(the first one questionable) in the first picture are proof coins and the third is a silver business strike. In the second picture, the first coin is the one with questionable reeding, the second is a business strike and the last two are also proofs. Do you think that it is worth researching or is insignificant? Thanks!

I don't know but when you post coins like this it creates a bunch of confusion on what coin is what.
