1979 LMC Rev Semi Circle?

#1 Unread post by Jsul77798 » Fri Mar 27, 2020 2:30 am

I found this with a 10x loupe and took pics with a scope.
1979 LMC. Rev below stairs to the right of center seems to be a semi circle like feature. Best that I can tell, it looks like a raised feature and not a scrape or damage. Its pre zincoln so not a blister bubble thing. It also definately looks raised and if it is from metal being pushed up, Im just not seeing it. That is likely what everyone will say, but Im curious if anyone has seen anything like this on cents before? I have one and have seen others on nickels, but not cents.
Thanks for any input!!!!

Looks like a scrape from circulation to me.

Thats what I thought at first glance and I figured would be the feedback on the post. It would likely be my opinion also to another but I just dont see evidence of the contact required to produce this result. Sadly my pics dont show the detail needed for that assesment needed to move into the weird world of semi circles as found on some 14 and 15 jeffersons and other Wexler UFO type stuff.
Question is now ( and im not saying this is that) have either of you seen any examples of these circles on cents other than what is shown on error-ref?

Thanks guys
Stay safe!!!!!!!

:eureka:
I would suggest that you try using an "alternate light source" for illumination, .... at a very steep angle to your imaging device.
This will make what you are looking at "Pop",.......... resulting in a much better image rendering ... to decipher exactly what's happening on the surface.
