1984 Lincoln Double Ear?1995 D DDO?

#1 Unread post by Aaugust14 »

If I could please have an opinion on these 2 pennies I have had in my stash for over 10 years?
The ‘84 looks deceptively like the double ear and a full man chew....
The 1995 definitely has doubling and has an extra 1 in front of the date. It is not a very clear 1 but it is discernible.
Your thoughts please....

It can't be close and must match. When you look through coins you will find all types of anomalies from the die being resurfaced after a die clash or struck through grease, etc. You don't want to look for all these minor issues. You want to match known die varieties, those are worth your time.

All these nicknames are hurting the hobby when people try to sell them, since many collectors think it's official.

Your 1995d has die deterioration and plating issues. There is a ridge ring around the perimeter "under" IN God WE TRUST. And it looks like plating 'blisters" in some areas. Without clear closeups it is hard to tell for sure.

FYI-It is better to place one coin per post even if the subject matter is similar. Each coin will have information specific to that coin and there is less confusion.

Exactly. If the coin doesn't match the images you see, it's not a match.
