Nickel error? Possibly 15 cents?

#1 Unread post by Aaugust14 »

I found this in my change! It looks as though it may have been minted over a dime!

The object above Monticello looks like part of the dime flower however on the lower corner I am unsure what that is.

The image looks like the imprint of a dime as well, the plant.

Minor surface anomalies and the large and darker area looks like it can be picked off. So this wouldn't be of interest beyond the face value.

The dark area is a metal variation it is not something removable.

Have you tried? It's not from the mint I can tell that. It looks like either a carbon spot of corrosion or something stuck on the coin.

Yes I have I used ammonia and a soft tooth brush to clean the corrosion off to see if it was just some Foreign object

To be what you think it is it would have to look like this coin in the image I attached. Your coin just has contact marks and an area of damage.
