1958 D cent collar clash error? Or something else

#1 Unread post by ArtCoin »

I watched your video on collar die Clash (railroad rim) after finding this penny. I was told by two avid collectors, who I highly respect their opinion, that it was a formally encased Penny error and PMD. Just trying to get a third opinion. It does not look to me like the other encased Penny's I have found in the past. The letters IGWT at the top are not aligned with the background letters and the "IN" is way really tall. Also on the reverse it looks like you can see where it hit the collar when it was tilted. Looks to have three seperste rims. Thank you so much for your input.

I have been thinking about your coin. I am leaning towards a die attrition error. Scroll down at this reference. http://www.error-ref.com/die-attrition-error/

It's not the same as die attrition. You can see the coin has been damaged all around the rim.
