1982 Small Date Zinc DDR?
Is it possible that I have a valuable coin here? I am really new to this whole hobby but I've done a lot of research and I'm still really bad at recognizing the doubled dies. This has the small date and weighs 2.5 g but I also think it's doubled on the reverse side. Thank you to anyone that is willing to look and give your opinion.

:eureka:
learning how to 'snap', as well as 'reading' scope close-up images
has a bit of a "learning curve"...
the base of the 'E' in 'ONE' really hugeeyes 's the MOST doubled here,....try 'spinning the coin', & look at it from a different angle ...

This is plating disturbance and die wear, under magnification this can look similar to doubled and as P said the coin needs rotated under the light and examined carefully.

:eureka:
it's important to learn "DIE STATES" also,..... these will help you in determining the possibility of a variety with respect to 'die cavity wear' ... JMO
hugeeyes the loss of definition to the 'memorial steps' ??

Nice images with a nice varied group of devices included.
Those steps are odd in that they continue all the way across but each row is much thicker (+-4 steps vs. +-10 normally?) Also looks like MD on the E of CENTS as well as other areas. If you visually remove the "doubled" part, the remaining is thinner than normal.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to look at my coin and write out your observations. I took a few more pictures from different angles so I've posted those here. I decided to go into a coin shop that's local to me that advertised their expertise. The first guy looked at it and asked "What do you want to know about this coin?" I explained and he walked over to another guy that was there and asked him to look at it. The second guy yells out "There aren't any double dies for that year. You've got yourself a regular coin, sweetheart!" I disagreed with him and he told me that he'd been doing this for 25 years so he would know best. Needless to say, it was not a very pleasant experience. Anyway, thanks again for looking.

Howdy!
Nice photos! Sorry for your shop experience. I hope we never come across that way.
As to your doubling, what I mostly see are plating issues and as Paul stated before "reflective doubling".
Using your photos, notice that the shape of the extended leg on the 'N' in ONE is larger than the width of the leg and misshapen for the point. This would normally be attributed to die fatigue, but looking at the surface of this coin between the rim and legend you can see other "bubbles". When they form adjacent to the edge of lettering, they will look like this. Reflective doubling is an illusion that occurs when you have one main light source and it shines on the rounded edge of the lettering and reflects onto the nearby field making it brighter. This is most obvious around the word CENT.

Correct that there's a reflection that makes it look doubled but the light is reflecting off a change in the surface and that is the plating disturbances along the devices. It causes a slight ridge for the light to reflect off of.
